Geology of Shoes

Barbora Veselá

“The project takes inspiration from sediment layers and from effects of erosive processes in nature as well as from traditional shoe making techniques”

Geology of shoes evokes the landscape and forms of Prokopské údolí  natural reserve, at Barbora´s homeland, Czech Republic. Her technique prints delicately the value of the artisan work.

Graduated in London College in 2013, Barbora Veselá discovered the charm of traditional and bespoke shoe making while working in different workshops.  Barbora has developed a special construction method. Multiple layers of suede leather scrap pieces are added on the last and subsequently sanded down to achieve the final shape and unique colour.

Made in her small workshop in Prague,  “Geo” Combines many colours and patterns. This artisan method allows everyone to tailor their own pair to their taste and personality.

“My work reflects deep technical knowledge and creative competence. I like to challenge classic shoe making techniques, yet use them with respect and celebrate its value. Playful and inquisitive thinking brought into old craftsmanship is what makes my work strong and unique.”
